About this Clock
Westclox introduced the style 9 Big Ben in 1980. The
style 9 was being made in Athens, Georgia. Due to
international competition, Westclox experimented with
manufacturing abroad, to be competitive. During
this time, Westclox commissioned a firm in Brazil to
manufacture a version of the Big Ben that was similar to the
original style 7, but was altogether a new design. The
movement was similar to the series 66 used by Westclox in
many models, but never the Big Ben. This clock was issued as
an experiment in sales.
